David Roth in Concert
Rumors of David Roth began many years ago in Ithaca when several singers, notably Anne Hills, championed his songs in their repertoire. His unique songs and moving stories were often the highlights of the concerts. Manuel Garcia, for example, the story of one man's battle with cancer and his friends' effort to help him, is one of those songs whose subject matter few songwriters would touch and even fewer could fill with such magic. It is not the only song of David's that brings forth both laughter and tears. David writes and sings songs of love and hope, wisdom and wit. It sounds corny, but oddly David Roth is anything but. What helps is that David is as good a performer as he is a writer. His years as the artist-in-residence at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York, and appearances at the Falcon Ridge Festival have both brought him accolades and the attention of many in Ithaca. The Cornell Folk Song Club decided it was time to bring him to town for the first time in about a decade. Be prepared to have your spirits lifted and your heart touched, and as importantly, get ready to laugh. Tickets are available at Ithaca Guitar Works, Borealis Bookstore, and at the door. You may also order tickets online. For information about the concert, contact
