Tracy Grammer in Concert
Tracy Grammer is a special kind of performer and a special kind of person. The duo of Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer experienced a well-deserved meteoric rise seldom seen in the folk world, until Dave Carter's sudden death in 2002. Tracy persevered and decided to keep on singing, with a commitment to keeping the memory of Dave Carter and his remarkable, unique songs alive. Now, three years later, Tracy continues to remain fresh in concert. She has expanded her repertoire to include songs by other artists and has begun to sing some of her own originals. Dave Carter's magical and mystical songs, some never recorded, remain at the core of her performance, and as Andrew Calhoun has commented: "No one sings Dave Carter songs better than Tracy." She's an old soul: fragile and tough, intelligent and intuitive. With her sweet and wild fiddling and vocals, it is clear that she runs deep, both muse and creative musician herself. She'll be bringing two new recordings, Verdant Mile and Flower of Avalon, as well as her recordings with Dave Carter. Joining Tracy for this concert will be Jim Henry. Many Ithacans were probably introduced to Jim when he backed up the Burns Sisters on guitar. Growing up in the Midwest, Jim now lives in western Massachusetts when he's not on tour. And between a solo career and the extensive demands from others in the acoustic circuit to borrow his extraordinary instrumental mastery, he can't be home often. The Cornell Folk Song Club is delighted to bring these two fine performers to town. Please give them warm welcome. Tickets are available at Ithaca Guitar Works, Greenstar Co-op, Small World Music, Colophon Books, and, if any are left, at the door. You may also order tickets online and by mail: SASE to CFSC, PO Box 481, Ithaca, NY 14851. (John Henderson and Margaret Shepard) For information about the concert, contact
