Cosy Sheridan The Cornell Folk Song Club is beginning its season with a concert by Cosy Sheridan. Cosy is one of those rare contemporary songwriters who not only can write a strong lyric, but also can compose a memorable melody. Scott Alarick, of the Boston Globe, says Cosy's "user-friendly musical philosophy" sets her happily apart from the myopic self-involved songwriter so often lambasted by everyone.

A couple years back, Cosy won the New Folk Award at the Kerrville Folk Festival; she shares this honor with Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Michelle Shocked, and John Gorka. But unlike any of the others, Cosy has since gone on to win the Troubadour Award at Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

Able to write songs from different moods and experiences. She celebrates the details. There are songs about the romantic uses of modern appliances and the finer points of neutering your pet. In others she may challenge the stereotypes of feminine beauty or sing a classic love song. Cosy can be frank, funny, feisty, or fragile.

More simply, Cosy is a delightful performer. Please join us.
