My 1986 Isuzu Trooper exhibited numerous from-the-factory problems during its short lifetime. The engine leaked oil from day one (the dealer supplied up to a quart per week for nine months, while they tried to diagnose the problem) until the engine was rebuilt. The dealer cut the hood-opening cable and then claimed for several years that it was normal wear-and-tear. The rear doors both fell off due to defective hinges. All 24 lug nuts on the wheels stripped threads due to soft metal. The radio was replaced several times. And the frame rusted through in about five years (see another dance, the Rusty Frame), in spite of the famous Rusty Jones rustproofing treatment.
Along the way, the rear differential began singing (off key) and then screaming. The innerds were, "All messed up." And it had to be replaced. Did I mention that the dealer went out of business?
The initial star in this dance seems to go on turning forever and ever, right up to the bursting thump of the balance. Just like my Trooper.
